Mystery Quilt 2014

I wanted to share another one of the annual Mystery Quilts
I teach for our quilt guild, El Paso Quilters Association.
You can check us out of Facebook.

This one is a block from Quilters Cache.
The block is named Karlene's Fancy.

The ladies used a consistent background fabric
with scrappy reds, greens, and golds.

This is Harriet, Me, and Therese.

These two ladies (Carol and Nancy) on the left
used a pink, green, and gold palette.

And Rachel used a rust, orange, and yellow palette.

And Harriet used a green and gold palette.

And here's a green, orange, and yellow palette.

I just love seeing the variety of color choices
and how different the same pattern can look.

What fun!  :D

It's My Day For The Tree Bird Blog Hop!

Anyone who knows me knows I love BiRdS!

I have a little place in the mountains called Niecy's Nest.
It is decorated with all kinds of birdie items.
I recently hung this cute little sign!

The nest has three eggs to represent my 3 kiddos - Jenn, Chris, and Bekah.
"Niecy" was my nickname when I was a little girl.

So it was only natural that I wanted to take part in the
Tree Bird Blog Hop

Since I have made a commitment this year to

Use It Up - Wear It Out
Make It Do - Or Do Without!...

...I have used fabric from my stash.

I'm not using the bird fabric collection that you
may have seen on some of the other blog posts.

Here's the collection that I'm using...

It is available at JoAnn Fabrics.  I love the colors!
It also has a coordinating panel of birds.  Wonderful!

So I cut the panel prints apart...
Then added a wider border around each bird.

Next I made some blocks using this pattern from Quilters Cache.
(They have such a great selection of block patterns in many sizes.)

Then sewed them all together - Whala!...
I made a quilt!

This block pattern works so well with the panel blocks
since it forms a secondary chain design.

I still need to add the borders.
I'm thinking a green inner border and
then the overall bird print as a wider border.
What do you think?

I wasn't able to get it finished...
hernia surgery last week kinda got in the way!  Ugh!

But this birdie quilt makes me sing!

Be sure to check out these bloggers pretties, too:

Mystery Quilt 2010

Every year I teach a Mystery Quilt for our quilt guild.

Here is one of the past quilts we did...

Some of the ladies only had pieces and parts to show!

One of the ladies chose a different colorway and even added another border.

Here are close-ups of the two blocks that were used.

Now she's waiting for the quilting.
Oh....when will I ever get around to that?
That's another mystery!

What's Up?

Wow!  My last post was December 22, 2014.  Really?

I've actually started several posts,
but just never finished any of them.

I did go ahead and publish one of them,
but as you can tell
I obviously did not meet my Post-a-Week Challenge.

Ugh!  :{

So gonna start now...For reals!

... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...

So what have I been up to?

I've been doing some quilting and crocheting,
cross-stitching and Bible Journaling.

Here are two of the Bible Journaling pages I've completed:

This page is the scripture about the mustard seed - Matthew 13: 31-32.
I used zentangles and colored pencils

This scripture is one of my favorites - Psalm 46:10.
The flowers are cut from an old calendar.
Was able to use some Sizzix dies for the verse.

Check out Bible Journaling with Shanna Noel at

Or Documented Faith with Stephanie Ackerman at

Both are very talented and inspirational ladies.

There are also Facebook groups for both.
What fun!

Join in the experience of growing closer to God!

Be Brave

Okay...I wrote this post back in the beginning of January,
but never posted it to my blog.  :(

So here we go ---

This year I have chosen the word "BE"
to creatively describe my life and me.

I have challenged myself to create a BE post every week.
That's fifty-two...52 posts in 2015!
I will post every Saturday beginning today with...

  Be Brave!  Defined as...

--- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---

So have you heard about the Brave Girls Club?

Check it out here:

So will you?

Me?  I will!
I will Be Brave enough to believe.
I will Be Brave enough to begin.
I will Be Brave enough to live!

What will you Be Brave enough to do in 2015?

Abundant blessings as you begin
your creative journey in 2015?
