Aging Artfully

I've been working on this cute cross-stitch by Lizzie Kate. I absolutely love the whimsy of her patterns...this one in particular. It has wonderful words to live by...or age by. :)

Starting on my New Year's Resolution to complete at least one WIP (Works In Progress) a month. Got lots of WIPs around my house...cross-stitching, quilting, jewelry making, punch needle, primitive rug hooking, stamping, mixed media. You name it...I've probably got it started somewhere around here.

I'm stitching this peice on 28 count Cashel linen using wonderful overdyed threads from Weeks Dye Works (Moss) and Crescent Colours (Caterpillar, House Wine, Morning Glory, and Ye Olde Gold). Gorgeous...simply gorgeous.

And you...what are you working on? Leave a comment to win a special cross-stitch prize. (Or a special quilting prize if you're not a cross-stitcher...or a stamping prize...or jewelry making prize!)

May you, too, Age Artfully,

denise :D

  2. WOW it is gorgeous! So festive and perfectly made, you should be proud of yourself!
I'm working on New Year's cards and winter themed swaps, along with a beaded ring. I scrap and stamp and paint and bead and more, so I sure intend to age artfully (if you read my moto in my blog you'll see why). TFS

  3. Hi Denise, I came by from Byhand Artists so I'm more of a stamper-also fiber artist. I love to do crewl as well, can't see to do counted cross!I'm working on all the projects I put aside for the holidays- some repairs and socks and a project on my new loom( still in my head)

  4. I've been working on making pendants from 1" tiles I picked up at the dollar store. I'm letting my muse take over on what to put on them. So far a floral flourish, a pen and ink doodle, and a primitive heart.

  7. Beautiful work on that cross stitch. I have also committed to finishing what I have started and begun by organizing the projects into large bags with all remaining items to finish. This should help me clear my desk and make some of the projects easier to complete.

  9. I love what is said in the cross stitch. Since I am in the "aging" gracefully catagory Ifind it easier to do much of what is in that saying. I jiggle, I think I flirt more because I am more comfortable with myself, I have made more friends in the past couple of years, but sadly also lost friends, love to kiss and hug...now the mending of fences is my downfall.
I have not got to the point of quoting myself.

I am trying to get new samples made so I can publish my patterns. Mostly Quilt patterns, but a few purses and totes.

    Merry Christmas

  10. I am currently working on another fabric journal, with laces and buttons etc etc. It takes a long time to finish one of these, but I just love working (really is playing) with fabric and trims.
    Merry Christmas to all.

  13. Our family had their Christmas yesterday. As of Friday I was finishing up a few last minute gifts. One being photo collages I did for my mom of each of her grand kids. I did them in an altered art style on cavas. Then also finished embroidering some shirts and towels for gifts. Today, a relaxing day and I am cutting fabrics for my next large rag quilt. Love your blog and very sweet of you to offer a prize.

  22. Merry Christmas. Nice job w/ the cross-stitching. I like the colors. I have never cross-stitched. I have a lot of things I need to do. I have a lot of materials, just need to get to making. I need to get back to scrapbooking, jewelry making, making totes, etc. I stamp too, basically for the scrapbooking. I made some jewelry not too long ago, some bracelets & an ankle bracelet for my mom. I also plan on making some decals to iron on black t-shirts. Nice blog. Thanks for sharing.
