Happy Hippity-Hoppity Easter!

Wanted to share some Easter cards that I recently made
using a Tim Holtz stamp and papers by My Mind's Eye...

Just love Tim's latest blueprint stamps -
designed by Mario Rossi's son.

All the materials - mini-stamps, paper pack, card stock, and twine
were part of this Archiver's exclusive kit.  Just so cute!

There's a bunny - an egg - a nest - a butterfly
to use for all sorts of stamping projects.

My favorite, of course, is the bird's nest.
I love all things 'birdie'!

Another version...

...and another.

Here is the purty papers from My Mind's Eye.
I love their various collections of papers and embellishments.

Happy Easter to you all.
Wishing you a blessed day with family and friends.

"Stitch Me Up" Blog Hop

I feel like Lucy in "I Love Lucy" when her husband, Ricky, says...
"Lucy, you got some explaining to do."  :}

You see...I thought my day for the
"Stitch Me Up" Blog Hop
was tomorrow...

...Turns out it was yesterday...
so I got counted as a no-show.  :(

I am so sad...I am such a dork!

But I contacted our illustrious leader
Madame Samm from Sew We Quilt
and explained my predicament.
I do hope she understands.  :)

So...
a BiG thank you to our cheerleader

Here is what I created from the patterns we were given -----

--- a Mug Rug for my morning cup of Lemon Lift tea.

Inspired by the wonderful work of Sue Spargo,
I created my piece using a variety of stitches
and some beads and buttons.

Makes waking up a warm, cozy feeling.  :)

Here are some close-up shots of the details.

Please be sure to visit the rest of the blogs
for today, tomorrow, and Friday.

"oh, my gracious...sake's alive!"

I am sooo embarrassed!

I can't believe I got the days confused!

I thought Thursday, March 28th was my day for the

"Stitch Me Up" Blog Hop

I was checking out the other lovely projects for today

when I saw my blog name listed for today...

Yikes!

Please accept my deepest apologies for being such a dork!

Come back on Thursday, March 28th ---

I promise to have my project completed

and a nice little give-away as well.

Thank you for understanding.

Where, oh, where have I been?

Where, oh, where have I been?
It's been way too long since I posted...
what happened?

Well, let's see ---
In February I was one sick lil' puppy.

With a fever of 101.7, I was in bed
with little to no strength to do anything.

Two trips to the doctor for coughing and difficulty breathing.
Diagnosed first time with bronchitis
and the second time with pnemonia and bronchitis.

Lots of meds - steroids - breathing treatments -
inhalers - and (best of all) bed rest
and I was finally feeling better.  :)

So now I am a happy puppy again!

Been working on a Mystery Quilt
that I am hosting for a local quilt guild
that I am a member of.
Boy, that has kept me busy!
Am thinking about hosting one here...
What do you think?
Would you participate?

Have also been working on a blog hop project -
(More on that later.)

Thanks for stopping more.
Gotta get up off my doggone haunches and get back to work/play!

Sending you all puppy lovin'!

"Grow Your Blog" Give-Away Winner!

A little late on announcing the winner
of my "Grow Your Blog" Party Give-Away...

...So here we go!

I made this snowflake mini-journal
in memory of my mother who loved snowflakes.
She always contended some of her best friends were flakes!

The mini-journal is made from
one 12" x 12" piece of patterned scrapbook paper.

Two pieces of covered chipboard were added to make the front and back covers.

Because of how the 12" x 12" piece of paper is cut and folded
it creates a pocket for a tag on either the top or side of each page.

I then added bits of sparkle with rhinestones...
silver embossing powder...
Rock Candy Stickles...
silver trimmed ribbons...
and coordinating papers.

Here is a pic of each page and its tag ---

Then it was time for the drawing!
Finally!

So I printed all the comments and cut them apart ---

That's a lot of comments!
Thank you all who visited my blog and left a comment.  :)

Next I folded them and put them in the official drawing bowl---
(No random drawing selector here!)

And look whose name I pulled out!

Denise Bryant!

How ironic that the winner is another Denise - huh?

I appreciate each and every one of you and your kind comments.
They make me smile!  :)

Stay tuned for another give-away soon.  It's a surprise!

Cotton Candy Tea!

Oh, what to do...what to do!

I've been working all day on the little snowflake mini-journal
for the giveaway on a recent post for the "Grow Your Blog" Party.

I went to fix myself a nice cup of hot tea...
then realized I was out of sugar.

Oh, no!  What do I do?

Usually I just brown sugar when this happens,
but today I saw this bag of cotton candy on the kitchen counter.

I absolutely love cotton candy!
And you don't have to go to
the rodeo...
the circus...
or
and football game
to buy it!

They sale it at the store!
(Though not quite as yummy as the fresh cotton candy.)

So I added a bit to my hot tea -
then a bit more
until it was sweetened just right.  :}

Now the color was quite funky...
kind of a blue-greenish!

But it was delicious!

I liked my cotton candy tea so much
that I made myself another cup
and continued working on that
snowflake mini-journal.

Sweet blessings, my friends,

100 Posts...100 Followers!

Last week I heard our Kindergarten teachers at school
discussing various activities for the upcoming "100 Days of School".
100 days of coloring, cutting, gluing, and writing.
100 days of learning to line up correctly -
to be kind to your neighbor -
to say please and thank you.

Then this morning as I was reading some recent comments,
(Thank you - I love comments!  Who doesn't - right?)
I noticed I have 100 Posts!
And 99 Followers!
Wowsers!

This calls for a Giveaway!

When I have 100 followers, I will give away a prize package -
eithering quilting, stitching, or stamping themed.
Winner will choose. :)

So I only need one more follower!
Then I will choose from the comments left on this blog post.
Drawing will be held January 31, 2013.

Thank you to all of you who
visit my blog -
leave comments -
become followers.

blessings to all my blog buddies!

Kaffe Fusion Crochet Quilt

Several months ago I found this beautiful 'crochet quilt' on
Heidi's Blog - Sewing Daisies

She has step-by-step instructions to create your own.
Well, what fun! I thought to myself.

So I shared it with my quilting bee friends and
three of us started our own versions.

I chose to use this funky little charm pack I had
from Moda called "Tranquility".

The title seemed appropriate...
my life has much stress in it,
so I most definitely could use a bit of tranquility.

First I sewed all the charms together in pairs.
We decided to add a light-weight batting.
The instructions do not call for it,
but we felt it needed a little more body to it.

After top-stitching around the edges,
I finished them up with a buttonhole stitch.
This is done by hand.

I used two charm pack of 48 charms (96 total)
so I now have 48 squares.

I just love the colors and patterns in this collection!
Aren't they just the happiest lil' fellas?

I will set mine 6 squares x 8 squares.

Next I began the crocheting part around each square.

Now it had been many years since I had last picked up a needle and yarn.  :}
So it took me awhile to get in the groove and pick up that crocheting rythym.
But I did...eventually!

I have 36 of my 48 finished so far.

Once all of my squares have been crocheted
it will be time to sew them together.

The original instructions say to just use a slip-stitch to connect them,
but I am going to add a pretty little crocheted "sashing" between mine.

This will add some zing to it...
and also make it bigger!  ----
And that's a good thing!

So stay tuned.  I will post it when it is complete.
It's my take-along project for now and until it is complete.
One of many UFOs to be completed this year.  :)

blessings all,
denise  :D

Welcome to My Blog!

Welcome to my lil' blog...

Tomorrow's Treasures Today

I am so pleased to have you join us for this event...

The "Grow Your Blog" Blog Hop Party is designed to
bring more visitors to each participant's blog.
To meet new friends...and fellow artists/creatists.

It is hosted by Vicki of 2 Bags Full

Please visit her blog for the list of almost 400 participants!

So let me tell you a bit about myself and my blog...
the who? what? when? where? and why?

I am a quilter!  I designed and taught this quilt as a camp project.

I am a mixed media artist!  I created this at a Tim Holtz class.

I am a paper artist!  I made this mini-journal for my honey at Valentine's.

I am a cross-stitcher!  I stitched this to remind myself to "Age Artfully".

I am a jewelry maker!  I made this necklace for my sweet sister.

I began my blog in August 2009.
I had just returned home from a fun event -
Creative Escape - in Chandler, AZ.
I had heard so many women talking about their blogs
and I had no idea what they were even talking about!

My first post didn't even have any pictures in it.  :}
I had no idea how to upload them,
but I was determined to have a blog by golly!

I am first and foremost a quilter, cross-sticher, and crocheter,
but I had just ventured into the world of paper arts.
So that was what lead me to Creative Escape.

My mother had passed away the year before
after many torturous years of Alzheimer's.
It was like she spoke to me that summer - saying:
"Go!  Meet others like yourself.  Dare to Dream!"
She was and still is my inspiration to create.
She was an artist - a woman born before her time!
 She loved snowflakes.

So it is in memory of my marvelous mother that I am

giving away a little handmade snowflake mini-journal!

(Sorry...I didn't have it completed before this event to have a photo.)

Please leave a comment to be eligible to win.
Drawing will be held February 1st.

Thank you for stopping by my blog.
If you would be so kind as to be a follower I'd be so happy!  :)
